Council Lifeguards in Gruelling Winter Test
Gold Coast City Council’s thirty-two permanent lifeguards have to prove themselves tomorrow morning in their annual winter fitness test.
The test consists of a 750-metre swim from Greenmount to the Coolangatta groyne, followed by a 1600-metre beach run and a 750-metre paddle on a rescue board … all in under 26 minutes.
The lifeguards, aged between 27 and 59 years, will gather at the John Cunningham Lifeguard Centre at Coolangatta.
They will be split into three groups for the test, with the first group taking to the water at 8am.
